Nuts & Bolts
What are your rates?
My standard rate for a 45-minute individual session is $250.
I have a fixed number of sliding-scale spots available for new clients who don’t have the capacity to pay my standard rate. Please feel free to inquire about what sliding-scale options are available.
How are you providing care during the COVID-19 pandemic?
I am vaccinated, and I currently see vaccinated clients in person.
Ready to get started?
Do you accept insurance?
I am not an in-network provider for any insurance company, but you can use out-of-network benefits to receive reimbursement for a portion of the cost of therapy with me. Many plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Cigna, allow for out-of-network coverage. If you're not sure if you have out-of-network benefits, you can call your insurance company and ask them these questions:
Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient psychotherapy, 45-minute sessions (CPT Code 90834)?
What is my deductible? Has any of it been met yet?
What is my coinsurance? (This will be the percentage that your insurance company will pay after you meet your deductible.)
New to Therapy?
How do I know if you are the right fit for me?
A central part of successful therapy is forming a trusting and secure relationship with your therapist. You may feel comfortable talking to me right away, or it may take you a few sessions to decide — both are OK. You’ll need your intuition and a little time to know whether or not it feels like we’re a good fit to work together. As we get to know each other over the first few weeks, it will be my job to check in to see how you’re feeling and to make sure you’re getting the treatment you need.
How long do you suggest clients are in therapy?
Everyone is different depending on their needs and goals. Hopefully, you’ll start to notice positive changes after just the first few sessions, but the length of time people are in treatment varies — from 6 months to 2 years to 5 years to a lifetime — it all depends on the needs and rhythms of your life. My goal is to help you learn how to live with a sense of authenticity, self-compassion, and self-trust. You’re in control of how long you continue to pursue treatment.
Is psychotherapy confidential?
Everything we talk about will be strictly confidential in accordance with federal law protecting patients’ privacy. There are few exceptions to this confidentiality to maintain your safety that I will go over in our first session.
What can I expect in treatment?
In our first session, we’ll begin to explore what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been struggling with, and what you want to change. As we start working together, you’ll be in the driver’s seat setting the pace and navigating us to the topics you want to discuss. I’ll be there to help you make connections between your experiences and gather the tools you need to feel un-stuck and meet new challenges. You don’t have to come in with a set agenda or even specific goals; you only need to show up ready to be present and curious about yourself.
How often should I come?
I see all of my clients at least once a week. I don’t offer sessions less frequently, because I’ve found — and research suggests — that therapy is most successful at making people feel better and creating lasting change when we see each other weekly or more often.
